Depression poses a particular threat to the working capacity of people in Finland. The numbers of people taking early retirement and being off work sick have increased significantly, even though depression as a disease has not become more widespread. The aim of the Masto project, initiated by the Ministry of Social affairs and Health (MSAH), is to reduce depression-related work disability substantially.
Masto is a collaborative project involving different administrative sectors, social partners and the third sector. The project has a programme of action to which those involved in the project have committed themselves.
